And now, the end is near…..

frank-my-way-2

Frank Sinatra, the first pop star, the legend, the ‘Chairman of the board’. We can choose no better icon to represent us, as we say our final farewell to this unique talent competition.

Yes Gridstar members, all 85,000 of you, it’s time to ‘face the final curtain’. As this is being written, we are well into the last month of the competition. By the time you read it, it may already be December and we’ll be into the public voting for the Grand prize, because this will also be the final blog. The final entrants for the monthly prizes will be cut off at the end of November and the last of those great cash prizes awarded. Cash prizes that have really made a big difference to a few of our contestant’s careers, enabling them to get some equipment or do more demos. Well now comes their chance to vie for the BIG demo…that R100,000 video. Along with that ,will come the chance to be seen by some of the main players in the record industry today, so if you’re just an on-looker or a friend, your vote could change their lives!

The Voting

You will have to be a member to vote, so if you have friends who are not registered yet who will want to vote, they must register before the 30th Nov. It’s absolutely free and you can even win R5,000 to do it! Then you will only be allowed one vote each time you log on. This is obviously to prevent some people who would just sit for hours clicking the ‘Vote’ button! We’re trying to keep the whole thing as fair as possible. The public voting begins on the 1st December and will close on the 21st. The final decision will be made and posted to the site by the 23rd Dec. The winner will also be contacted by us, providing they are available.

Every vote counts

Although, as in all competitions the judges decision is final, we will be taking the voting very much into account. Obviously someone with very few votes is simply not popular and therefore won’t be in contention. However, we will be wanting to ensure that this very valuable prize is awarded to someone of substantial talent, who we believe can most benefit from it. Therefore it won’t necessarily be the highest vote that will win either. Anyone with a substantial amount of votes will stand a chance, so people do get those votes in. At the end of the day….every vote will count!

A fond farewell from Mr Big

A tear comes to my eye as I write this fond farewell to you all. It has been an honour and a privilege to steer you all along on this exciting journey. I am extremely impressed by the level of talent that has been displayed and can honestly say that every one of our Grand finalists has the chops to go on to greater things. as I’ve said so many times, it’s all in your hands. you have to  believe that and get out there and entertain at every given opportunity. If you love this business it will show in your performances and that is the essence of what makes a star. I have had fun and laughter and experienced wonder at the determination of some of you. I am grateful to all of you who have supported us and particularly those who had the courage to enter the competition. I believe we will see a great find emerge from our efforts, whether it is in the months to follow or even a couple of years down the line. True talent can never be kept down. Finally if you didn’t always agree with my decisions or my comments…Well I, just like Frank and every other show business personality that has walked the path before you, must be able to say at the end of it all…’I did it my way’

Caio,

 God bless you all,

Mr.Big
